{Audrey} When shorts used to be a big no-no

I can’t recall a time I have ever bought shorts for myself until like two weeks ago. I used to be running away from them all the time because I just knew I would not like my legs in them. I have always been a bit curvy with strong thighs so shorts were just never an option in my wildest dreams. I even had an issue with dresses until a few years ago so you can see how much I was struggling with this. I just kept wearing jeans all the time. It was not showing off my skin, I didn't have to worry about shaving my legs and I was just at peace with my look. People around me kept wearing them a lot during summertime but I tried not to fall for the social pressure. I didn't want people to look at my legs and I was going to stick to this idea for as long as I felt it was necessary.

But in the last few months, I lost a lot of weight and I thought that maybe I should revisit this old issue and deal with it for good. After all, jeans are really fun to wear but when you are going through a big heat wave in July, you might need something a little lighter to go through the day. So I went shopping for summer clothes two weeks ago and ended up buying this great pair of sateen cargo shorts from Suzy Shier. The fit was surprisingly amazing and it was the first time that I ever felt like I could get used to shorts in my everyday life. I felt confident in them and I truly think that’s the key when you want to buy new clothes. You have to feel like they represent you in the best way they can and that they put light on your best features. And I don’t think that my legs are the prettiest thing about me but those shorts definitely helped me like them a lot more. I believe it’s great to allow myself to change my mind about things that I thought were set in stone. I have learned that shorts can be your friend if you take the time to find the best fit for you. Even a little extra weight should not stop anyone from wearing them. As long as you are comfortable in them and you feel confident, that’s all that really matters in the end and I'm proud to say that I have learned my lesson. Shorts are amazing!
